School Events & Celebrations
Community, creativity and achievement—throughout the year.
School Events and Celebrations
Our school calendar is enriched with a variety of events that celebrate community, creativity and student achievement. Major school events include Sports Days, the Blessing of Pets on the Feast of St Francis, Christmas and Carnival parties, Open Days, Book Fairs and End-of-Year Celebrations. These events are thoughtfully scheduled throughout the academic year to complement the learning programme and create joyful, memorable experiences for students and their families.
Once per term, we also host a Talent Show featuring two year groups at a time, where students showcase their skills in acting, singing and dancing. These performances are always a highlight, with parents invited as the main audience to celebrate their children’s creativity and confidence on stage.
Weekly assemblies are an important part of school life. Every Monday, we hold a special assembly to recognise and celebrate students’ achievements, both academic and extracurricular, with a particular emphasis on sports and well-being. This helps foster a culture of encouragement and promotes a healthy, active lifestyle. Students celebrating their birthdays during the week are then invited to the front, receive a birthday card and are joyfully celebrated with the “Happy Birthday” song.
On Fridays, we host another special assembly with a spiritual focus, centred on the upcoming Sunday Gospel or the feast of a patron saint. Students bring the message to life through dramatised scenes and themed dances, helping them connect with the values and traditions of the Christian faith in an engaging and meaningful way.
In addition, from time to time, we hold special assemblies to honour distinguished visitors to our school. These include visits from the Archbishop, the President Emeritus, and educators from our Erasmus+ partner schools, among others. Such occasions are wonderful opportunities for our students to interact with inspiring individuals and learn from their experiences, further enriching our school community and broadening their horizons.
Educational Trips
At St Francis School, we believe that learning extends far beyond the classroom. Students enjoy at least two educational outings per term, carefully planned to complement their curriculum and bring learning to life. These trips are directly linked to the topics being explored in class, offering students meaningful, real-world experiences that deepen their understanding and spark curiosity. Whether visiting museums, historical sites, nature reserves, science centres, theatres, or local businesses, each outing is designed to enhance both academic knowledge and social development.
All trips are well-organised and fully supervised by our staff, with safety as a top priority. Parental consent is always required in advance, and clear communication is maintained regarding logistics, objectives and expectations. Educational outings not only reinforce classroom learning but also help students develop independence, teamwork and respect for the wider community. These shared experiences often become some of the most memorable and impactful moments of the school year.
